A book that definitely lived up to the hype. The main character, Rachel, is such a red hot mess that you go back and forth between wanting to help her and wanting to scream at her. Every day she takes the same trains into and out of London. These trains just happen to stop across from the home she used to share with her husband. But she also becomes fascinated by the couple that lives a few doors down. She keeps tabs on them while she sips bottles of wine and canned gin and tonics. Rachel's life ...more

just not my cup of tea kind of book,
probably set my expectation a little bit too much
as for the characters, well what can I say, I just hate everyone in the books
but somehow it is strangely addictive,

What an amazingly fun novel! I loved all of the twists and turns, especially with all of the unreliable narrators. It just kept me guessing until the end. Also, there really isn't a single character with redeeming qualities, which is interesting. No "shining hero" that I was rooting for. I thought that each of the characters were very well written and had their own distinct voice, attitude, and behavior. I could actually imagining running into them in real life. It was just a crazy plot line wit ...more

Lives up to the hype.

I don't know how to feel about this book. Rachel depressed me and most of the book was in her voice. I don't mind reading about horrible people but it's usually easier when they have some charisma (like in Gone Girl) but Rachel was just sad and Megan awful. Anna was kind of pathetic as well and there's your three POV characters.

That said it was an interesting story. I just wish the main characters were just a little more enjoyable to spend time with.
