Wow! I didn't think anyone wrote science fiction like this any more. I couldn't put it down--very suspenseful. Mark Watney is marooned on Mars. Will he survive? This story was filled with lots of technical, scientific facts, which I love--reminded me of Martin Caidin's Marooned or Stanislaw Lem's Pirx the Pilot stories. This was the best book I've read all year. I knew the movie was coming out soon starring Matt Damon and I wanted to read the book first. Saw it at the bookstore and had to have it. It pretty much immediately became my purse book and I managed to find the time to read it in a happy medium between devouring and savoring slowly modes. It is going on the Keeper Shelf, something I rarely do. If you saw Mt Git'r'Read, you'd know why I can't have much on the Keeper Shelf.
Watneys' wicked sense of humor
