Shelves: audio-book, fall-reading-2014, read-in-2014

My 2014 reading year was book-ended with offerings from the stars of Parks and Recreation. One of those books I loved and the other I was a bit disappointed in.

I hate to admit it but I didn't much care for Nick Offerman's book, despite loving his character of Ron Swanson on the show. But I was pleasantly surprised at Amy Poehler's autobiography Yes Please.

Yep. Still love her. While not laugh out loud funny, it's a great book about working hard, loving what you do, and how hard we struggle to do the right thing sometimes. I found it refreshingly honest and enjoyed getting to "know" her through stories from her life. ...more

Well, in the interest of full disclosure, I have to admit that I adore Amy Poehler--how could I not? So I snatched this book off the new book shelf at my local library literally 30 seconds after it was first placed there and ran home to get reading. Did I like it? Yes! Did I laugh out loud in places? Yes! Did I also find the writing and the pacing of the book to be somewhat uneven? Yes! Would I recommend it? Yes!
