The extraordinary are born after someone has a near death experience. Two fellow students decide to become EOs. One gets a god complex, while the other is his foil.

I wanted more background about the EOs, which I didn't get--not even in the second one.

The alternating POVs from the past and present interrupted the flow of the story.
