It's a very sweet and lovely story. It's interesting that it is so juvenile and told in an "old-faerie" type of way since (I learned in the introduction) that Tolkien became, later on, very much against this style even when (like this book) told and written specifically for children. I also liked being able to see stirrings of themes and characters and places that would later on have such a presence in other tales. I smiled a lot while reading it and laughed out loud in places.
