TOLKIEN & SONS.

This was cute introduction to fantasy for kids. Tolkien wrote letters to his children pretending to be Father Christmas, but it wasn't just about "Santa." He created a whole world at the North Pole consisting of elves and goblins (a prelude to his Middle-earth world, no doubt), and stories about what Father Christmas did there. There are marvelous illustrations that go with the stories. This was just such a cute little picture book.

This is a wonderful collection of stories written by Tolkien to his children. It opens up a unique window into his life where you can get some glimpses into his creative mind as it grew over the years. Some letters are bittersweet as they cover several years of World War II.
My only negative view is that the illustrations are an important component in thee stories, which are of course completely lost in this audiobook production.

Delightfully charming with a historical subtext that's fascinating considering the origins of the text.
