Sure, there are some engaging stories in this book. Unfortunately, they're sandwiched in between the author's explanations of not liking teens, the elderly, his coworkers, or the disabled. Douglas refers to overweight library users as "fat people who didn't read, who always used the library to sit on their lazy butts, and who used the computer in an effort to get fatter." "I am a university librarian at a small private school, but I still felt the sting of his between the lines reprimand. Librarians sometimes need a wake-up call to remind ourselves of what it is that we are supposed to be doing providing information and resources to all of our users.
