I enjoyed My Blood Approves, the introductory novel in the MBA series. If you like books involving hot young vamps and the pretty teenage girls they can't help but love, this book is for you.
Alice is a regular teen girl, who after an almost attack in a parking garage, meets Jack. She finds him attractive, but doesn't fall all over him like her slutty best friend Jane does. I've never read any of Amanda's work before, and frankly I don't normally read these type of books. Out of curiosity I downloaded the preview, and found myself caught up in the story and characters from the start. I decided after reading the preview that for 0.99 I couldn't see why it could hurt to buy the book.

I'm glad I did, as even tho I'm actually a slow reader, I read this book within a few short days. Not intentionally of course, it was just that I couldn't get the characters out of my mi ...more

Ok, let me first say that I love vampire love stories & to be honest this story is a lot like the others, but with a slightly different twist. When I started reading this book, I actually went back & read it again. And you might want to ask me why I re-read a book over, when I had just read it a month ago; well I had to get another feel for it. The reason being is that I actually found Alice, who is the main character to be slightly like Bella in the Twilight Saga. I felt like both characters (A Ok, let me first say that I love vampire love stories & to be honest this story is a lot like the others, but with a slightly different twist. When I started reading this book, I actually went back & read it again. And you might want to ask me why I re-read a book over, when I had just read it a month ago; well I had to get another feel for it. The reason being is that I actually found Alice, who is the main character to be slightly like Bella in the Twilight Saga. I felt like both characters (Alice from this series & Bella from the Twilight series) have nonchalant attitudes, play dumb and are quite annoying sometimes. But, I still like the concept of this book and the series. So, here goes my review-
Alice Bohiem is a typical teenage girl that lives at home with her workaholic, alcoholic mother & younger brother Milo. Alice’s best friend Jane is a character that is self absorbed trophy wife ready mean girl, but Alice still truly loves her best friend. Kind of sad actually, because her best friend only looks out for herself and always pushes Alice off to the side for a guy. So, when Jane drags Alice downtown to try and club hop, they run into danger. That is when Jack comes into the picture and rescues them from some dunk older guys, who were looking for a good time. OMG!!! I do love the fact that Jack is a likeable character in every way; he is charming, boyish, fun, and loveable & skate boarder cute. I liked him as soon as he entered the story, to say the least; Jane is actually tries to hit on Jack as soon as the altercation was over. I was so relieved that Jack brushes her off and is weirdly attracted to Alice and Alice does find it weird that someone picks her over Jane. The story pretty much goes on from there to included Alice & Jack hanging out and finally Jack take Alice to meet his family. Jack family consists of Ezra, Mae, Peter & Matlida; Jack tells Alice that they are brothers. When Alice meets his family things turn a little juicy, she thinks that Jack and his family are just rich; but there is still something that she is missing. Finally, in Chapter 10; she realizes what Jack is and still questions the reality of it all. I mean I had started sitting on the edge of the bed!!! I literally wanted to slap her (Alice), because she was acting so dumbfound. Soon after Alice also learns that she is meant for someone else (Peter) and that her and Jack are to be only friends. And from there things get interesting and also complex. I am going to stop there because anything else would ruin the suspense. This is a book that you need to be ready for disappointment & young love. I think that this is well worth reading.

I loved this book. Amanda Hocking is one of my favorite new authors. This supernatural YA novel is great and the chemistry between the characters is awesome.
