This was my second Josh Lanyon, but I won't compare it with Fair Game (the first book I read by him) because it was co-authored and I can't say which writer wrote which parts.
Overall, it was tight and well-paced. People warned me about the story getting sappy and overly dramatic after the 50% mark and they were right, but like I said in one of my status updates, my tolerance to sappiness and drama is pretty high.

Another one I need to add to my can't believe I waited so long to read this list. It picks up the pace quickly and moves right along until the end.
Gabriel is kind of a cocky ass at times, but once you learn more about him, it is hard not to like him. He is a total wiseass and had me chuckling out loud more than once.

This book consists of two parts; in part I Gabriel describes his undercover work in a drug gang and during this time he falls in love - well yes that's just it - with a criminal, and the other man seems to be so right for him, sexually and emotional, but, well he's a crook. While the problems start piling up, at the end of part I there is a huge showdown that changes everything.
Part II isn't written in the POV of Gabriel which is a shame because his emotional world is much more interesting than ...more

Although I truly liked this book I am a bit disappointed. It is hard for me to read a book, invest in the characters and then be left feeling as if things are not truly resolved. 9 times out of 10 this feeling of lack of closure is cured because there is a follow up book that answers all the questions I had. Unfortunately with Mexican Heat this does not seem to be the case (even though it looks as if the intention of the authors was for this to be a series) and that is most unfortunate.
