First of all: If you haven't read The Dark Horse and The White Knight yet, I think you should prepare to read them in a row, because the books twine together very nicely.
The Dark Horse was the first title Josh Lanyon wrote specifically for the m/m market. So, if you really stop to think about it, this book kind of made history, right?

Although I was so disoriented by the throw-you-in-the-middle-of-things opening I had to go and check I hadn't missed the first in the series, once I'd wrapped my head around it I decided it was a great way to start the story. It gives an intensity to the supposed calm after the storm, and I loved watching Sean battling with his self-doubts. There are some big issues here (mental health, obsession, fear of physical intimacy), but all handled deftly by an excellent writer.
