I am never disappointed in a Josh Lanyon story. This was a sentimental story of coming home. Coming home to your first loves: dancing and Web. Mitch has obtained his boyhood dream. He is a featured ballet dancer with a major company. He has discovered his live in boyfriend has been doing anything in the company. Lone star is a sad and sweet story about second chances, and about what you really want. When they almost kids, Mitch and Web were in love but they had a terrible argument because Web felt it was not the time to be out. Heartbroken, Mitch left Llano and went to live to New York, where he became a star in the ballet world. Twelve years later, the shock of finding his boyfriend in intercourse with another dancer leads Mitch back to Llano, to deal with the estate his deceased father left for him. On his way to the ranch, a car accident just brings back into his life the only person he’s decided to avoid while in Llano: Web Eisley. With Wes, the memories of what they shared come back, as do the family and friends he left behind. Mitch realises he’s not over Web, in fact he’s never been, and that all those twelve years of loneliness could have been spared if he would have been willing to hear to what Web had to say. But when he seems to be given a second chance at love, he is also offered the part he’s been waiting for, that can turn his career into a real success. What will Mitch choose? Or is there any real choice to be made?
There are so many reasons why I love Josh’ books that it would be too long and tiring to try to note them all down here. Mainly, I love his characters, always somehow troubled and really endearing, the way the landscape always seems to play a subtle part in his stories, his ability to make you feel and care for the story. That’s why it is always a good idea to grab any of his stories. Lone Star is no exception, and I’m sure it will become one of those books I keep revisiting from time to time. Great story.

I really felt connected to these characters and loved this story ... except for the less than satisfying ending. There were too many loose ends ... so much potential unfulfilled which I so dearly longed for. A truly lovely story and nicely fleshed out MCs -- sadly a less than satisfying ending ... I love Josh Lanyon and the amount of emotion she is able to pack into a short story ... but I love her full length novels better where its possible to really sink into the story and chemistry ... misse ...more
