This is the cutest story I've ever read. This book has a real cinematic quality, for me reading it was like being in a theater and watching the movie.
At the beginning of the story we meet Perry at his worst: he's coming back from an unfortunate romantic trip, he's exhausted and the discovery of the corpse in his tub brings him an asthma attack. Enters Nick, the ex Navy Seal, who just can't help remarking how delicate and helpless (and queer) Perry is. Exits the corpse. Was it Perry's imagination ...more

Just finished reading this book in Italian and I want to read it again. I just love this story. The Italian translation is accurate and doesn't disappoint. Maybe some translated words didn't completely convince me but they were few. Five stars again!

A superb mystery novel set in a creepy, possibly haunted lodging house with an array of enigmatic and eccentric boarders. Perry Foster, a slight and physically frail artist returns early from a disastrous holiday to discover a body in his bathtub – a body that then vanishes. Only Nick Reno, the taciturn ex-SEAL who lives across the hall seems to believe him, and together they set about investigating the murder, and all those that follow.
