Great world-building, style and plot line and two amazingly well-developed main characters.
I had some small issues with the POVs and Toreth's aquaphobia but I enjoyed this too much to complain. ...more

I am speechless.. I really am.

This book was truly amazing in every single detail, in every single aspect. I really have nothing to criticse. Nothing--Nada.

The characters are intriguing, astonishing, manipulative, sexy.
Toreth is, by all means, not a good person. He is a cruel, socio- and psychopath. That alone should tell you that he doesn't normally give a fuck about anyone but himself [let Sara, his admin, be the exception of the rule]. He plays games with other people, likes to torture them, n ...more

This book is well written, hot, smart and like a never ending mind torture. That title is very appropriate. One star goes to the fact that it can lead to anxiety and/or brain rotting if you don't usually mind horror movies and heavy thrillers. Proceed at your own risk. XD

Re-read 2014

5 years is a long time. So many books have come and gone and when I came back to Te eAdministration it was like it was always there. Everything came back full force and then it hit me: this is a work of genius.

Re-read 2014

5 years is a long time. So many books have come and gone and when I came back to Te eAdministration it was like it was always there. Everything came back full force and then it hit me: this is a work of genius.
Ok, one might find the story quite unbelievable. You might have not seen Equilibrium, a movie with Christian Bale which might be another source of inspiration for these series, apart from Blake 7 and others. Equilibrium has such a strong motif adn yet makes you angry for the sloppy writing and silly gun action. But that's just Hollywood for you. (Christian Bale in black I&I suit is still a valid reason to watch the movie).

What is amazing about these characters is how real they are and how consistent in all 15000 pages of pdf I have read. See, there is no need for pathos and making the reader tired with morality when the characters are so well defined, so deeply flawed and so driven to make their lives better. I've always liked to read what other readers feel about each character. There seems to be a very well defined group of people who adore Toreth and want to pet him like a child (he would probably apply some high level waiver on them) and the other group who are generally scared of him and think he is a psychopath. There are also mixed feeling about Warrick, about Sara, Dillian and maybe even about Bastard the TomCat.

My feelings are mixed. Toreth is a very scary man whose only limit is 'will I get caught?'. If yes, he doesn't do it. If not, maybe he will. Maybe he will spare you. It depends if he had a good fuck with Warrick last night. Which brings me to Warrick.
Good old Warrick is truly a corporate like Toreth thinks of him. He likes to let things slip though and doesn't want to think about the bad things others are doing to make him sleep well at night. He makes me think of Hamlet sometimes, obsessed with the sim, with his father, with danger, but unable to do anything about it.

Are you with the resisters or with the Administration? In 2009 I was a big pro-Administration and pro-Toreth and now I can my opinions shifting. I almost like Carnac. I would be a Carnac in this universe. I would be an annoying prissy Socioanalyist trying to get My Keir back. It's almost scary of how much I used to loathe him in 2009. And now he only me feel really bad for him.

Can't wait for the last books. I really want a closure and a place to call the end. ...more

Wow... One of the most impressive reads in the sub-genre. Smart, gripping plot, complex characters, the futuristic authoritarian world is very vivid and wholesome, no bloopers or inconsistencies. There's not really as much sex as it seemed from people's reviews, maybe 4-5 not too graphic but hot nonetheless scenes. The BDSM elements are integral parts of the story and characters' development but the story isn't about sex or romance at any point. Hard to believe this gem is a free read. ...more
