I'm kinda dissapointed... it wasn't a bad book, but it wasn't amazing either. It gave me a lot to think about. But most of all it felt forced, like she really didn't want to write it, but had to. Or maybe it feels forced cause it was delayed for 7 months and that alone raises expectations sky high. I would have been loads more understanding and willing to ignore stuff that annoyed me if it had been published in december. I can never know that now.

A wonderful aspect about reading a series is being able to enjoy the journey of the characters as they learn, discover, and blossom. Even better, in this series, all of the aforementioned is happening amid a whole lot of compelling murder and mayhem!
Christopher and JX have been together for nearly a year now, have survived more than one murder mystery, are sharing a house, and are even talking marriage. That's a heavy load for the usually cynical and self-deprecating Christopher. Add on this fa ...more

I loved this! JX and Kit have their differences, but they (especially Kit) have learned to trust one another enough to talk things through--like adults. A couple of decent mystery plots here, some nice romantic moments, and everything works out well at the end--for Kit, JX, (view spoiler) . (minor spoiler)

This is a character study as well as s murder mystery. The story seems to give Kit and J.X. relationship as much important as the mystery itself.
The MCs still navigating their life as a couple. Which felt more authentic than the usual "love and sex solve everything" approach in many books on this genre. Here, they had relationship issues, they fought, then they talked things out and learned from it. Also factoring in, was the fact that Kit's ex is back in their life with a bombshell that became ...more

JX and Kit are settling into their new home when a body is found at Kit's former home, the purchasers want to pull out and sue him, his firmer stalker/attacker is out on bail and there are clowns out to get him. The body is initially thought to be his former PA which brings Kit's ex David back into the picture.
Which all sounds like quite a lot in what isn't a very long book (especially as it finishes about 85% and the rest is promo)
Fun to visit Kit and JX again but the mystery is weak and there ...more

Yay character growth for Kit! Kit is still bratty though and that’s the way I like him. I love Kit’s kid phobia. Lol
JX is a rock. I hope there’s more for him to do in the next book. I was happy to see a little of JX’s cop connections. Let’s go inside his office too. I want to see how he creates.
I enjoyed the main mystery, it kept me interested.
David. Let me introduce you to Jerry. Didn’t need or care to see David but I’m glad Kit got his revenge scene.

Continuing to enjoy this series! I just love Kit so much, more with every book. He feels very real and relatable and messy and complicated. The plot was interesting, and I really liked seeing him and JX settle even more into themselves and heir relationship. The David plot was also great and gave some nice closure to Kit's past life.
