Christopher "Kit" Holmes has been summoned by his old mentor to replace her in an amateur writers retreat. When Kit gets there, however, his mentor tells him that the real reason behind her request is to ask Kit to find who is responsible for the threat of her life. This book is even better than the first one in the series. I get more of what Kit and JX actually have in mind about each other and, especially for Kit, about himself; his anxiety, insecurity, and where/why were those coming from. Holmes may look on the outside as flippant, cynical, stand-offish, shallow and prone to drama. In actuality he's quite fiercely loyal to his friends, even when they betrayed him, has deep feeling for his partner, and really intelligent.

Okay, I admit it - I'm a series ho. I love a well-written series that shows a progression of emotional growth and realistic setbacks between engaging characters. I love a series that grabs me so tightly that I can't put the current book down and I can't wait for the next installment. This series has me folks - I'm a goner.

My first Kindle book and I really enjoyed it! The mystery really kept me guessing until the end and I didn't have a clue who the perpetrator was. The end wasn't cut and dried which made a nice change, but justice was definitely served.
The story is very dark, with a couple of the main characters not making it to the end, however, the relationship between J.X. and Kit is so lovely, with Kit finally letting his guard down and letting J.X. in. They make such a great couple! ...more

Love, love, LOVE Kit and JX! They're so fun and witty and smart and cute and wonderful...and I can't praise them, or Josh Lanyon, enough.

Great story! It ended too quickly. I hope we get more with Holmes and Moriarity.
