I generally quite enjoy this author's historical MM romances, and this was no exception! Takes place in NYC in the late 1950s, and the whole thing was quite lovely! Fairly low angst on the whole, with the issues here mostly being external related to being queer in that time period. The pace is slow and gentle, which I enjoyed for the most part though it did occasionally drag a smidge for me. But the writing was lovely, the characters--including the supporting cast--were great, and the sense of p ...more

Just finished listening. Appreciated the author's note and how she worked in the historical details of the 50s as well as her bit of license, allowing for a nicely wrapped up HEA ...more

Sebastian has been very hit or miss for me, but her mid-century books have all been wonderful, and I hope she keeps writing in this era. The chemistry was palpable and the characters easily slipped under my skin. The perfect comfort summer read and the escape I was craving. The love story alone is perfection in this ... but there is a lot to like in addition to this. The historic little Italy influences on the New York setting, interesting side characters ( ...more

Took me about an hour to get into this one—it’s a bit of a slow burn—but after that I couldn’t stop. Very romantic and soft, I liked it a lot. Listened to the audiobook, Joel Leslie does a wonderful job as usual.
