The 3rd book of Adrien English's mystery was more complex in the murder mystery part. However, I did not really care about the whole witch craft and demon occult issue. It was Adrien's personal life that hooked me in the first place. I enjoyed meeting the new family that Adrien had, now that his mother decided to remarry -- and his new stepfather had three girls in tow. I liked to read Adrien's interaction with youngest, Emma.

4 1/2 stars (rounded down to 4 stars because I loathed Jake!)

The only reason this book didn't get five stars is that it's part of an unfinished series. And I always view series books as part of one long story so it's hard for me to say that any volume is the best ever when I haven't read the end yet.

I've really enjoyed this series so far and am anxiously awaiting the fourth novel. The characters are engrossing, the plots well-conceived, and the writing style is clear and unique.

I'm enjoying this series immensely from Jean following Adrien so that she can novelise his life, to Angus being involved in the occult (I think that we suspected that!), Jake's quest for a 'normal' life and the handsome Uni professor picking up where he left off. It's addictive reading so I've ordered the final two books... can't wait till they arrive :-)!

I really love Adrien's self-deprecating, sharp-witted, yet easygoing style, and I've been drawing out the series to savor my time with him all the more.

Despite having thirtysomething books to read for challenges-- none of which are in this series-- I cannot stop myself. Incredibly good series. Lanyon has became a must-read author for me.

FANTASTIC title.
