A nice read. It's an insta-love kind of thing though. I also found it a bit confusing as far as time frame. Ultimately, it IS a contemporary story...I think. Seriously. It's first POV from James, and his voice is sort of...old? As in historical. And he almost sounded British until Sedgewick showed up and is British. So then there's a contrast-ish. I've found this in other Lanyon books, so it's not all that surprising. Still, I like the voice and the story.

James Winter is a "book hunter". Three years ago his live was turned upside down when he was involved in a scandal. He lost his job and his lover even though he was only guilty by association. He has a chance to redeem himself when he is asked to find and procure a book supposedly by Charles Dickens. This could be his ticket back to the life he lost. Unfortunately, the owner of this book is a bit on the nutty side even though he is gorgeous.

I LOVED this story! I found it impossible to put down. This is one I will return to again and again and not just for the holidays although for me it will certainly become a definate re-read each Holiday season. I HIGHLY recommend this book to all and especially those who like modern twists to classic tales. A truly beautiful, heartwarming and exceptionally memorable story. Just Wow!
