4.25 big beautiful stars!
Naturally, a home-run produced by my favorite author, Josh Lanyon.
I've been meaning to read this book (series) for a while, and well, it started off with a bang.
I'm a total sucker for the classic WHODUNIT's and Lanyon also produces great results.
I laughed a lot, said "WHAT THE SHIT?" a lot, and squealed like a pig at some of the awkward conversations/situations, and I loved every second of it. (view spoiler) ...more

Fatal Shadows is almost strictly a, "Who Dunnit," story. There's very little romance, very little sex and very little to get excited about. The mystery was not difficult to figure out and just about everything in it was like reading what they used to call a dime novel. Not really my favorite Lanyon read. Sorry.

Reread February 13 - 4.5 stars. Enjoyed this so much more the second time. Love Adrien. Part of this renewed appreciation I'm sure is the knowledge of what's ahead, but oh well, that's how favourites work.

It's a Josh Lanyon mystery. It's very good!
If you've not read any before, that won't mean anything, so I'll add that it's an intriguing start to a series, and it's about Adrien English, the owner of a book store, and involves murders, twists and interesting relationships, blossoming or otherwise. Some of the characters evoke greater reader sympathy than others. I predicted the ending about halfway through, but I'm still off to buy the next book in the series. ...more

I'm a fan of the Adrien English series and Josh's style. This was the first book I've read from him after one of my friends lent it to me. I was instantly captivated by the down to earth story and the characters who are your everyday people. Adrien and Jake's chemistry is amazing, and both characters had managed to ignite strong feelings in me. The story itself is interesting and it'd taken me quite a log time to work out who the murderer was.

I'm a latecomer to the Adrien English series. I'd heard about these mysteries for years and only just had the opportunity to sit down and read them--one right after the other. Josh's subtle touch when it comes to characterization, both individual characters and the interaction between them is extraordinary. I loved Adrien with his fierce independence and his snarky humor, and Jake's closeted existence made me ache for him as much as I wanted to shake him. Better still, Adrien is described as loo
