I finish this book within 2.5 hours because it is pretty engaging. Sure, it is classified as "gay mystery" because the hero and the victim (and the friends of the hero) are mainly from gay community. But the sexuality angle is not on blatant -- and that is something I cherish. The hero is very likeable and I'm truly intrigued with how he and the prospective-lover, a closeted cop (no less!) will pursue the possibility of their relationship.

4 1/2 stars (rounded up to 5 stars because I loved Adrien!)

I should explain something about me and mysteries. More often than not, I figure out whodunnit long before the characters do. So, in general, I don't hold that against the authors. In fact, I'm usually quite tickled if I've figured it out correctly. Ultimately, I end up judging a mystery on characters and setting, and Fatal Shadows won my heart with both.
