OMG, what a fantastic read. I'm a huge fan of Logan's Run and have watched it numerous time. I truly enjoyed this story almost more since it was seen through the eyes of someone who totally believed everything he was taught all his life and then had to rationalize the fact that everything he had learned was wrong.

I love the ingenuity of these main characters, building and planning their escape and how literally blind some of the other people are, hooking in to their machines and games.

So interesting. The first time I read this years ago I gave it five stars and listed it as a favorite. I wasn’t reviewing books back then so I don’t know anything else about my thoughts on it. My second read, years later, I seem to be having a very different experience. It’s good, but I wasn’t gripped by it. I’d forgotten pretty much everything so it was like reading it for the first time. Lois - Who Reads
Once again, this author has taken our world and turned it on its ear. In this universe, you are retired at 30 – but not the kind of retired you think of when you plan for retirement. Ernest has just turned 30 and so he has a little bit of time to explore the world before he has to “retire”. In his exploration he meets Will and the world is turned upside down when he learns that not everything is what it ...more

Ok, this was a strange one. People who die with 30? Who do not eat and think they should be demagnetesised after they die just seem very, very strange.
The ending is rather aprupt and one does wish to know, what happened to the group, who did escape.

Nice enough story with interesting ideas. Unfortunately, I found I just did not enjoy futuristic stories. It was well written, just as I have come to expect from JCP.
