I'm always excited to read a new Josh Lanyon book, so I was pleased to get approved for an arc of Murder Takes the High Road. This was another wonderful multi-layered mystery from this author. The story was filled with just the right amount of heat, humor, and murder to be very entertaining. I loved the old school feel of the murder mystery and I enjoyed Carter's amateur sleuthing.

Not quite on par with my favorite Lanyon books but I enjoyed it. I had some trouble keeping all the tour group members straight and this kind of ensemble-cast mystery inevitably left less time for the romance element, but what there was of Carter and John was lovely. Rounding up to 4 stars.
Some years ago Carter Matheson arranged for him and his lover to go on a tour a Scotland designed for fans of mystery writer Dane Vanessa Rayburn. During the wait, Carter and Trevor broke up. Now, Trevor wants Carter to give up his ticket to his new lover, Vance. Carter, though, is determined to go on the trip and enjoy himself. He winds up with John Knight as his roommate. I kept being distracted by the fact that a major plot twist is based on a true crime story, and in the end I wasn't really able to enjoy the book as much as I might have otherwise.

Generally liked it - and having been on author-based tours recognized some of the characters. Found the stuff with the lead character's ex and his new boyfriend pretty boring.

Murder
I love, love, love Josh Lanyon. This was a sweet, sometimes funny mystery. I love the eccentric cast of characters we also get in a JL story. This was a lot of fun.
