What Members Thought
This book started off 5+ stars great. The first chapter completely blew me away, but the middle sort of slowed down for me and made things feel a bit drawn out at times. On my end, I think it was a case of super high expectations.
I enjoy Alexis Hall's writing and highlighted my way through this one. I just felt like I never had a good grasp of the dynamic between Toby and Laurie when they were playing. It was an interesting relationship, the men were sexy together and Toby was full of surprises. ...more

This is just beautiful, intelligent writing. For Real is a long book that never felt too long. The exchange of POVs between this unlikely couple is skillfully done, meaningful, never a device. I don't think I've read a more vivid, more convincing, and just plain gorgeous description of an SM relationship. Thank you and bravo, Alexis.
