This book started off 5+ stars great. The first chapter completely blew me away, but the middle sort of slowed down for me and made things feel a bit drawn out at times. On my end, I think it was a case of super high expectations.

I love this author’s writing. Truly, madly, deeply. I’ve read everything except his Kate Kane series and I’ve given 5 stars to everything. Every single one. And the writing is really lovely here too, sweet and smart. But ultimately this one just wasn’t for me.

This is just beautiful, intelligent writing. For Real is a long book that never felt too long. The exchange of POVs between this unlikely couple is skillfully done, meaningful, never a device. I don't think I've read a more vivid, more convincing, and just plain gorgeous description of an SM relationship. Thank you and bravo, Alexis.

That was unbelievably sweet. I love Toby. I want to go live in his head some more. That had to be so fun to write.
Also, I cried.

Amazing audiobook!
This book has become my all time favorite bdsm love story. So much love between Laurie and Toby as they faced obstacles,the biggest one of age difference. I loved this book.
On hold at 37% - want to like this one but it just isn't doing much for me after 4 or 5 tries.
