An unusual story. It has its dark and evil side told in the flashbacks. It has its hopeful side told in the struggle of the survivors to come to emotional terms with their long turmoil.

Austin loves his daughter and it was and is the only part of his life that gives him joy. His marriage has been on autopilot long before his kidnapping. 3 stars read for me.

I wasn't even finished reading the sentence "After surviving a five-months long kidnapping together..." before I ordered this novel. The premise sounded dark and angsty and I'm attracted to those like moth to light.

This book was okay...The story itself was compelling but something fell short for me.
The author would be talking about something serious, feelings and then use a transitions like, "and in another part of town...". Words that would be more at home in a different type of novel...I've even seen my 10 year old use it in a story. It was incongruous with the setting.

This story had great potential...it just didn't live up to it, IMHO.
