An unusual story. It has its dark and evil side told in the flashbacks. It has its hopeful side told in the struggle of the survivors to come to emotional terms with their long turmoil.

Austin loves his daughter and it was and is the only part of his life that gives him joy. His marriage has been on autopilot long before his kidnapping. When he returns his wife demands he forget what happened and get back to his normal life. She gives no comfort. She refuses to attend counseling as the other vic

These words perfectly describe Cam and Austin, the two men that have survived hell in the hands of a psychopath who kidnapped and tortured them for more than five months. As they try to recover from physical and psychological damage, they grow closer and closer.

The flashbacks of their ordeal worked for me as they served not only to show what they lived through, but also their personalities and important elements of their lives: Cam's sufferin

Wow, that was an intense story. Normally, I hate flashbacks in a book, but they worked in this instance. Plus the cheating? I won't read it, but again in context of this novel, it worked and felt real. I can't wait for the second book. This writer goes on my auto-buy list. ...more

This book was okay...The story itself was compelling but something fell short for me.
The author would be talking about something serious, feelings and then use a transitions like, "and in another part of town...". Words that would be more at home in a different type of novel...I've even seen my 10 year old use it in a story. It was incongruous with the setting.

This story had great potential...it just didn't live up to it, IMHO.

I cannot find the words to say how much I enjoyed this book. I am always leery of books that deal with any type of PTSD. Too often, the words on the pages do not reflect the realities that I have seen in my nursing practice. But, Aftermath was spot on. Neither of the main characters is miraculously healed overnight. Nor did they just use drugs and alcohol to cope with the aftermath of such a horrible experience. What they did was learn to rely on one another, while accepting the need for persona ...more

I absolutely adore this book! It was written beautifully and it tugs to your heart in so many levels. Austin Huntley is a family man who lives his life in order. He's got a nice career and a nice family and is simply content with what he's got. Cameron Nash on the other hand is an antisocial mechanic with very little patience when it comes to dealing with - err life. Bonded by their five months traumatic captivity together, the two men formed something that they realized is more than just their ...more
