I can't review this right now because I'm bouncing and squeeing all over the place and exploding into sparkling confetti and little shiny hearts.
Had it not been for the religious stuff, I'd have five-stared this book in a heartbeat. It's four and a half stars; four stars for the story and a half star for the Punxsutawney Phil reference. ...more

O.K., this book must, MUST have a sequel.
It's funny, geeky, smart, heartwarming, painful, sweet... like, legit gem, for reals, lol (I just had to, I had to...).
It took me a while to get into the story, maybe because I started substituting Castaway with Star Trek characters, maybe because I'm coming from atheist family and cannot completely empathize with Brandon's problems, maybe due to Brandon's panicky voice in the beginning. I did not care for these characters enough to enjoy the story. I liked Able's character until he did one of those boyfriend flips that I dislike... One minute he's broken up about Kyle and the next he's in love with Brandon.
Brandon was okay but the inner dialog was kind of annoying and kind of creepy... I really can't put my finger on why I feel this way.
The story was good but totally geared towards a younger crowd. I still don't know why they call it "shipping". I guess a generation gap trans ...more

This was sweet coming-of-age story. It is told from Brandon’s POV and gives the reader a heartfelt view of the anxieties and angst and self-doubt a teenage boy coming to grips with who he is as a person vs. who his family and the community (aka Father Mike and the church) think he should be.
I liked the dynamic between Brandon and Abel and Bec, Brandon’s best friend. The ups and downs, fights resulting from Brandon’s fear and initial lies about his experience. The battle of the vlogs… but I won’ ...more

Just like Ami said in her review. It's like reading my own story in fandom journey. I ship real famous people (Hail to Gale Harold and Randy Harrison!) and I also ship my two best friends in real life! So yeah. This book is sooo awesome!!!
