I finished it this morning and, as I expected, completely enjoyed the story. It's easy to figure out one of the major plot twists early on, but I was still surprised by events at the end. The romance between Pierce and Griff develops nicely and has a sweet and satisfying conclusion. I just wish I could read Josh's books more slowly, savoring them over time, but I just can't help gobbling up the whole thing right away!

I like Josh Lanyon's writing style. His stories revolve around well crafted MCs with real problems. This book was no exception. The burb gives a good synopsis of the plot, but it is Griff that is the heart of this story. We are in his head. We suffer his anxiety attacks. His upbringing was unusual, but he was never aware of that until he was trying to write this book. He still had a hopeful outlook on life. The interaction between Griff and Pierce is steamy and snarly both. The main mystery is n

Loved this new mystery Stranger on the Shore from Josh Lanyon. Atmospheric, lush, and sophisticated. As always the attention to detail is amazing and the writing is sublime. The characterizations are fully fleshed out and fascinating. Captivating reading and definitely a reread because the layering and skillfully placed clues throughout the mystery means there will be much to unravel with each new read.
This came so perilously close to being perfect, but somehow came up short in the end. I think a big part of that for me was the lack of chemistry between the two MCs. The story happens too quickly, and there isn't enough time to develop the depth and growth needed by this otherwise well written story. There are times that literally we went from "I hate you, goodbye" to "I love you" in the span of 15 minutes! Too sudden for me ... I didn't feel it. Both MCs started off as distant but instead of t

Griffin Hadley has set out to unravel the story of the kidnapping and disappearance of Brian, heir of the Arlington fortune, two decades ago. While Brian’s grandfather welcomes him in his home, the rest of family is less inclined to offer any support. Don’t they believe that the mystery can be solved so many years later or don’t they want dark secrets to face the light of day?
Even the handsome family lawyer Pierce Mather tries to get rid of Griffin, but it is quite obvious that the two men are d ...more

If asked to recommend a m/m mystery to someone, hands down it would be something from Josh Lanyon. He has a wonderful talent for blending a mystery with a romance so that neither seems to detract from the other.
This story focuses primarily on the mystery of young Brian Arlington's disappearance and Griff's desire to write a book covering the events of the disappearance. Everyone in the Arlington family except Brian's grandfather is opposed to the book. Family attorney Pierce Mather seems to be o ...more

While part of this was super predictable, like all good Lanyon books I was kept guessing until the end who the 'bad guy' was. A really good 'who done it'.
I really wanted to love this one but the ending was too rushed and easily resolved for my liking. That being said it's reminded me how good Lanyon is so think I'm going to go back read some old favourites and hope they're as good as I remember!! ...more

Another great mystery by Josh Lanyon. The narration was good. I was able to figure out what happened to the missing boy about halfway through the story, however the kidnapper was a surprise as well as the mystery murderer. Good tension and chemistry between the two mc's.
