Awesome book.

What a pleasure to read. Unearthly is the kind of book that's hard to put down. I literally did not want it to end, it was that good.

Unearthly is the story of Clara, a 16 year old girl who is part human, part angel. She is beginning to come into her powers and learning about her purpose in life.

What makes this story stand out from other angel books in this genre is that it works.

I've heard everything about UNEARTHLY, that it is this amazing angel book, wait no, that UNEARTHLY is the best YA Angel book out there and finally an author has finally done something right. I'm sorry, but I'm just not seeing that to be true. I think I spent the whole book being incredible annoyed at these characters.

The beginning of UNEARTHLY was quite slow and when I did get into it, I think I was ranting about everything half the time. I will say that the book was quite cute and all, but I am I've heard everything about UNEARTHLY, that it is this amazing angel book, wait no, that UNEARTHLY is the best YA Angel book out there and finally an author has finally done something right. I'm sorry, but I'm just not seeing that to be true. I think I spent the whole book being incredible annoyed at these characters.

The beginning of UNEARTHLY was quite slow and when I did get into it, I think I was ranting about everything half the time. I will say that the book was quite cute and all, but I am not looking for a cute book. Firstly, our heroine, Clara was not at all how others have described her to be. I found her as annoying as Becca Fitzpatrick's, Nora from Hush Hush. I;m not sure who actually wins the gold at this point. It actually might actually be Clara.

I've had several problems with Clara. She is angel-blood and she is suppose to full-fill her purpose and Christian is her purpose. She is suppose to save him from the first or something. Clara is was to clingy and needy around Christian like some kind of freaky stalker. I don't even see this as full-filling her purpose, I honestly feel she acts completely idiotic around him that sometimes it's just too much for me. Clara = the kind of heroine in a book that I don't like. There were other things that I didn't like about Clara, but it would take like forever to explain them all. Though one thing is that I enjoyed whenever she was with Tucker. He brought light to her character in a way.

I could not for the life of me stand her mother! A mother who does not tell her child anything about important things that she NEEDS to know is not a mother at all. I mean seriously, I would like to know if there are bad angels out there that may come after me! Wouldn't you. She evade like every questions and it really pissed me off. All YA mother think they protect their child by this but it all blows up in there faces sooner or later.

The best part of the book, possibly the only part is Tucker! Which all of you could probaly agree with me on this one! I really like him and he is that goofy, funny guy you will fall for over and over again! I loved his sense of humor, but he wasn't present in UNEARTHLY enough! I wanted more of him. Clara's friends were also a plus, Angela and Wendy! I loved them, but again, not enough to really make this book work for me.

I really needed more. I wasn't blown away. UNEARTHLY was an okay book, yes, but it wasn't enough to really capture my attention. I may possibly give the second book a chance, because the story was boring yes, but I am attached to ~~Tucker~~ the characters in a way and my curiosity has the best of me at the moment. Also there was things at the ending that made me really want to see what will happen next.

Ok, I totally did not expect this book to be as good as it was. I went into it with very low expectations because honestly, it is a YA book about angels. I have yet to really like an angel book and my luck with YA books lately has not been good. Hopefully now I have broken that streak of bad luck with this book cause this book was as close to awesome as it could get. Then why not 5 stars you ask? Well, I would give it 4 1/2 stars if I could, but the reason it's not a full 5 stars is I just didn' Ok, I totally did not expect this book to be as good as it was. I know she's an angel and she has a purpose and it seems her purpose was to save Christian, but that didn't mean she had to fall in love or spend the rest of her life with him. She had the tingly passing out reaction when she saw him, but he was beautiful, movie star gorgeous, of course her breath is going to catch when she see's him. I can't tell you how many beautiful men I've seen that have caused me to pause and my breath catch in my throat, but that doesn't mean they are my soul mates. It just means that my eyes are good at recognizing their beauty and my hormones are good at making other areas take notice also. Lust, pure and simple, I can understand. Love takes time to build. Destiny, maybe, but get to know eachother before you say it's destiny. I guess that was my big hang up, she didn't even know him or anything about him and yet he was her destiny, her true love.
BUT, Clara does redeem herself by admitting that she knows nothing about him and then again later in the book, which i won't talk about because of spoilers, she totally does what I consider the right thing. Besides the little destiny thing, the book was fabulous. I loved the writing, detailed but not overly detailed. The author described what you needed to know, not every little damn detail in the room or area. It made me want to go to Wyoming and hike my ass off. I love the outdoors (not so much the snow) and the author totally sold me on a Wyoming summer.
Angela was my favorite. I liked how the author made Kay, the popular chick, kind of snobby but then at the same time she made her human. I couldn't hate her and I didn't want to. Tucker totally sounded like a yummy cowboy. He was funny and hot and totally adorable.
This was a great YA book. I can't wait to learn more about the Black Wings and what Clara's mothers purpose was and what now Clara is supposed to do after her purpose. I will def be reading the next book, I'm happy to have found a good YA series and a great angel story, FINALLY. ...more

I don't get the hype surrounding this book. It's your typical Young Adult book, with all the high school drama and girl moping over a boy stuff, I had to remind myself that this was a paranormal book because there sure wasn't alot of supernatural or paranormal action going on, just your average teen drama. ...more
