Initial Thoughts: Wow. Once again I am awed by the awesomeness of this series. If you have not yet had a chance to start the Kate Daniels series, what are you waiting for? Amazing battles with supernatural creatures, cool magic, intricately detailed world, fantastic dialogue, sexy lead couple - and a fantastic story. Full review to come...

A Kate Daniels book I didnt love?! UGH! The horror!

I have to say for the record, I never in a million years thought I would be disappointed with a Kate Daniels book, EVER! I swear that 2015 is not my year. I have been disappointed in almost every highly anticipated book of 2015 on my list, but a few. I don't even know where to start with MAGIC SHIFTS. Basically I assumed this book would be different, I mean in the previous book, Kate met her father, Roland and she claimed the city. But, Roland

This series never gets old. You would think after 8 books things might get a little "meh." But Magic Shifts is as fresh and exciting as every other book in this series. If you aren't reading this series, you need to go sit in the corner. I've left a copy of Magic Bites (book 1) for you.

M.S. opens a few months after breaking off from the pack. Kate and Curran are living in suburbia. George (Mahon's daughter) comes to see them after her boyfriend goes missing and no one from the Pack looks for him.
This had action. Tons of it. The banter I adore. The scene from Applebees.
Someone that could have helped and didn't (view spoiler) I liked the revelations about the ghouls (view spoiler) There wasn't much in the Roland story-

I cannot exactly tell you what I felt was missing in this book, but it rather felt like a filler.
It reads more like a novella than an actual book which would move the bigger story arch along.
Don't get me wrong. I still really enjoyed it, and if you like Kate Daniels, this book has everything in it that make this books great, I just felt the stakes were tone down somewhat, and that left me an anticlimatic feel for this entire book.

Once again the duo, Ilona Andrews, did not disappoint! This book was great and leaves you craving the next in the series. Phenomenal writing and I love how much knowledge they have and put into their novels.
