I only read the Ilona Andrews short, Magic Tests. Eventually I plan to read the rest, but not anytime soon.

Its a cute story, and I liked Julie's POV. I loved how she thought like Kate, and her reactions were based on what she thought Kate would do, but she was smart enough to know what would work for her and what would not.

I also loved her snarky comments about Curran, Kate and Derek, though Kate was there only for a little while and none of the others showed up.

A nice little story from Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels series, focusing on Julie (Kate's ward and magical sensor extraordinaire, who was introduced in Magic Burns). Julie is roped into investigating the disappearance of a student at a potential new school. An interesting insight into how Julie's mind works. ...more

So great! Julie is becoming a badass! That scene in the cafeteria is my favorite. Kate is definitely rubbing off on her.

Now I'm sad that there aren't more Julie centered stories. I really like this kid! ...more
