Rogue Rider (Lords of Deliverance, #4; Demonica, #9) in SOS: Serious Overload of Series

This was one of my most anticipated/dreaded series installations in a long time. What do I mean? Well Reseph /Pestilence has been a fascinating character since the first book in the horseman part of this wonderful series. We only had a few glimpses of Reseph, but Pestilence we became quite familiar with over the course of three books. If I had to make a list of the best “evil villains” in a series of all time, Pestilence would be up at the top. Possibly number 1! This is a guy who was so evil, a This was one of my most anticipated/dreaded series installations in a long time. What do I mean? Well Reseph /Pestilence has been a fascinating character since the first book in the horseman part of this wonderful series. We only had a few glimpses of Reseph, but Pestilence we became quite familiar with over the course of three books. If I had to make a list of the best “evil villains” in a series of all time, Pestilence would be up at the top. Possibly number 1! This is a guy who was so evil, and his crimes were so horrible they are too numerous to name all of them here. Lets just say the dude was the baddest of the bad. So…Here lies the dilemma. How in the world is the Author going to redeem this guy ???? Is that even possible? How would she then turn this evil monster into a romantic lead , a HERO none the less?? Therefore this is a story both anticipated , because I have faith in the author to do it , and dreaded because I have been disappointed by authors before.
Without giving away too much. The scene starts with our hero vulnerable and completely without memories of his past. Along comes a wonderful woman who finds him and takes him home. Alone….. In the woods….. Ok points off there. That’s too far fetched even for a fantasy book. I’m thinking “Crap! “ this isn’t getting off to a good start. Then Reseph starts in with the cornball cheesy pickup lines. In most romances this is a negative for me, but here it actually works. Why you wonder will I of all people be ok with cheesy romance? Well, you see the author spent 3 books promoting the fact that Reseph is a slut! He is the absolute king of the cheesy pickup lines. Therefore the author has made it not only okay for the romance to be cheesy but it actually makes sense to the story. So now we are back on track. Now I’m thinking , “this may work after all“. Then the author begins to weave what has to be one of the most compelling tales of Love, sacrifice ,devotion and redemption I have ever read ( And people I have read A LOT) . The author NAILED this one! The romance was hot, the story fascinating and the characters so real they leapt off the page.. She completely made up for the silly unbelievable part at the beginning. In fact, this is a series that should be read by all new authors wanting to venture into the romance /fantasy world. We have to be invested in a character in order to root for them in the “ big situation” .The BUILD UP to romance or redemption is the best part of a story. This is a perfect example of a love story that isn’t forced or shoved down our throats. We had three books to become invested in the fate of Reseph. We wanted his “happily ever after“ , and we wanted it with the perfect woman!
This is a definite recommend! It should actually be required to those interested in a career as a romance author. Another winner from Larissa Ione! Cant wait to see what she turns out next. ( and I promise to never underestimate her again!!!) ...more

Oh boy. I know I didn't review the other books from this series, but I just can't wait. Let me start by saying that I was oh so very surprised by this book. I didn't expect to love Reseph as much as I did. And I also wasn't expecting to love his book almost as much as I loved Than's book (Lethal Rider).

In case you haven't read this series (shame on you!), Reseph has been the bad guy for almost the entire series. It wasn't until the very end of Lethal Rider that he gets to become one of the good Oh boy. I know I didn't review the other books from this series, but I just can't wait. Let me start by saying that I was oh so very surprised by this book. I didn't expect to love Reseph as much as I did. And I also wasn't expecting to love his book almost as much as I loved Than's book (Lethal Rider).

In case you haven't read this series (shame on you!), Reseph has been the bad guy for almost the entire series. It wasn't until the very end of Lethal Rider that he gets to become one of the good guys again. Even in his bad I'm-going-to-kill-anything-that-moves state, I didn't hate him as much as I should have. Probably because I knew that his story would come and because I was going to get to read his story really fast (see, there's a good part to this whole late to read a series thing I have going on!). I was hoping for something big for his story and I wasn't disappointed. From the tortured hero to the strong heroine and ending with some surprising news and turns and twists, Rogue Rider has it all. I'll be honest and say that I loved Thanatos out of all three brothers more. Now, before you call me names let me say that yes, I KNOW there's a sister, Limos, as well, but honestly, how can you not love her? Plus, I was just talking about Ares, Than and Reseph.

Even if I loved Than more, I think Reseph is really close to becoming my second favorite (Ares is trying to hold on with all his power to that title). There's this scene that made me want to grab Reseph's brothers and sister and smack them upside the head. Hard. I know what he did while he was the bad guy was...well, bad, but let's be honest, he wasn't himself. Plus, the guy has an amazing sense of humor.

I loved Jillian. There was this small fear of mine of her character. You know how sometimes you get the scarred heroine that is not strong and too afraid of her past that you want to shake really hard? I was so relieved Jillian isn't one of those female characters. What she's been through in the past was very difficult to overcome, but she made it. She became stronger, partially on her own and partially thanks to Reseph, but she did it. She didn't let fear become her second nature. And I liked her for Reseph. She's a very good influence. And it was cute to see how a "mere human" could be stronger in some occasions that an ancient warrior.

We get to see Reaver some more and boy, is he one sexy angel. You'll find some curious things about him. And his book is next *squees*

Bottom line is that I am oh so happy that I got to read this series as well (besides the Demonica series, I mean). I'm also sad that I finished it so fast *pout* If you haven't read this series yet, do it. NOW! Go, buy it and read it. Oh, and remember to read the Demonica series first :D You'll love that one too. Anyway, read it! Just maybe not as fast as I did, so that you won't be in misery waiting for Reaver's book *sigh* ...more

it starts kind of sweet and sappy, with bits of the Reseph we know and a few bits of what the Aegi & Gethel are doing, then BAMMM things change and his siblings show up and plenty of others start coming around. Plenty of action once that happens, great twists with Harvester & Reaver. Miss the rest of the characters that were introduced in the Demonica series, some of them were mentioned and a few had very bit parts. This book sets up the next book about Reaver. Look forward to it.

Pestilence did a lot of horrible things in the first three books. While your mind may tell you Reseph had no control over Pestilence and should not be punished for it, emotionally it's difficult for his family and friends to handle. Even Reseph cannot help but blame himself for every evil action Pestilence took. Reseph's struggle was heart touching and Ione did a wonderful job bringing the situation to a satisfactory conclusion.

I'm definitely looking forward to Reaver's book. ...more

It started out great, the ending was just a little too easy for me. I would have liked more to get through. I read on my kindle and was only at 80% still expecting a big finale and it just wasn't there the last 20% is the compendeum. ...more
