"No Shifters Allowed!" - That's exactly what fascinated me in this book, this racist mentality both in law and society in general. Legally shifters aren't able to get high paid jobs or buy luxury items. Proprietors are allowed to ban shifters from their premises and racism against them is tolerated because they're "animals".

3.5 stars. I need to learn my lesson where Shifters are concerned--I barely tolerate them, even from my favorite authors. I ADORE Jennifer Ashley's historical McKenzie series, but her paranormal alter-egos are a huge part of her backlist. Overdrive had the e-book for this, and I jumped at the chance to see if perhaps the series would work for me. Alas, it does not. Really enjoyed this introduction to Ashley's pride world. Loved all the relationships in the book: between Liam and Kim, Liam and his family and Dylan and Glory. Good plot. Looking forward to reading more about these characters.

Re-read for a challenge.
Still really liked this book :)
Still really liked this book :)

A world in which shifters are collared citizens without rights. The H/h fall in love a little too quickly and things are probably resolved a little too easily with a plot device, but I still liked the book.
