Lara Adrian is a master at her craft! She has taken a series that we all know and love and breathed new life into it. Not to say all her previous books in the series weren’t awesome, but as the story arc came to a close with DARKER AFTER MIDNIGHT we were left wondering….”Now what?”

It was a long, loooong time since I read something from this series, I didn't really remember what happened last or where we left things with the Order but it only took me a few pages to get back on track.
Last time we read about the Breed, they had just "defeated" Dragos but then came first dawn, which is what they called vampires coming out to the world and not in a good way.

When a suspicious amount of teenagers started showing up in later books of the Midnight Breed series I was worried that Lara Adrian might be looking to enter the YA market. Not that I would blame her, Barnes & Noble might as well be named Teen Book City at this point, but it's not my cuppa. I LOVE that Lara decided to go forward in time and give us the next generation of warrior and couples. It is so easy for Paranormal Romance series to get stale and become always the same old story, but Lara Adrian found a way to rejuvenate her Midnight Breed series and I am absolutely obsessed about it!

I was fortunate enough to attend Lara Adrian's LAMBCon event in August of 2012 where she gave us a short taste of this book. It left us all eagerly anticipating it's release.
This is story features a grown up Mira who is now a soldier in the Order still headed by Lucan. It is a story full of drama and betrayal that will catch you by surprise. I was worried as I had some trouble with the last few books of the Midnight Breed, but this one was great! It's a complete reboot into a much more interesting and conflicted world, with many new and interesting characters and situations and possibilities--but still with quick looks at all the characters we already know and love. The best part is that the author manages to do all that and STILL give the reader a satisfying and touching HEA. I'm excited for where this series is going.
