What Members Thought

★★★★½ Fun and very well narrated YA book set in GC's Victorian Steampunk world.

Love Ms Carriger's take on steampunk and really enjoyed The Parasol Protectorate, however, just felt this wasn't up to the same standard.
Possibly because it was written for the Young Adult audience, however, some of the devices used would suit a children's book rather than the late teen I was expecting. (names of characters are much more ridiculous than TPP; the heroine is 14, and some of the other cast members are as young as 9)

Like Pride and Prejudice and the Parasol Protectorate series I had these
moments from guffawing so frequently. Any mention of ripped petticoats, decolletage, or pudding sent me into the hysterics.
This new series was very satisfying, and I love the fact that Ms. Carriger decided to continue with this universe. I hope to continue soon with the next book, and see where this plot will go.
