I have forgotten how much I thoroughly enjoy Gail Carriger.

I highly recommend Etiquette & Espionage, Finishing School #1. While written for a Young Adult audience it is equally enjoyable for adults in the same manner as the Harry Potter books.

Set in Victorian England with stream-powered gadgets of all kinds including a floating school with an interesting curriculum and faculty. A werewolf and a vampire assist other instructors in teaching such necessary skills as curtseying, eyelash fluttering, when and how to faint to best effect, as well as deception,

I can only imagine that a lot of the unanswered aspects of this book will be answered in the books to follow.

Why does Mr. Braithwope say “Whot?” all the time?
Is Soap Sophronia’s new beau? If so, what about that one Piston that flipped his hair at her?
Why does Captain Niall sound familiar? Oh wait, I know why. If you read Changeless, then you know who he i

I am a huge fan of Gail Carriger's Parasol Protectorate series and was so excited when I first heard about her Finishing School series. Etiquette & Espionage is set in the same Victorian Steam Punk world but this time we follow teenage Sophronia and her friends as she travels to finishing school. I didn't love this one as much as I love Carriger's adult series but it was still a worthwhile and fun read. ...more

Good, though the character names were dreadful. Hated the trifle story at the beginning, so done. Overall, Loved the cover.
