It took me a while to warm up the Cat and Bones series, the last two At Grave's End and Destined for an Early Grave I enjoyed immensly and I was hoping that First Drop of Crimson would be more like them. Unfortunately I admit I was dissappointed.
First Drop of Crimson is a formulaic paranormal romance. Spade is the bad boy who just needs the love of a good woman and Denise the damsel in distress. While essentially there isn't anything wrong with that, I felt that the story lacked some how even w ...more

Denise, Cat's best friend, is in trouble. Someone is killing her relatives and making it look like heart attacks. While leaving a bar with her cousin, Paul, he is brutally attacked and killed right in front of her. Strangely, no one else witnessed the attack and the minute someone appeared the mysterious killer disappeared. A dog stood in the place where the assailant had been. i read this book in one sitting. Reading this one for the BOM in my group.

I loved it! I had forgotten how much I loved the night huntress series and the world that was created.
Cat and Bones are in this one but they are not the main Focus, as Spade and Denise are.
the author has her usual steamy sex scene as well as a bit of butt kicking and humor to go with it.
I loved it.
