First book in a paranormal series about the fae by Laurell Hamilton, who writes the Anita Blake series. I wasn't too sure about this as I could only get through 2 1/2 of the Anita Blake books, but I was in the library and needed to find something asap as the baby was getting fussy, so I grabbed this. What a long read but it was very enjoyable. I liked the characters and getting to know the world that Merry comes from. It looks like a lot is going to happen in the next books.
Loved this start to the series. It didn't start to go downhill until 7 or 8 books in so I consider #8 the ending. Really a shame as it's such a great premise. After reading the reviews, I didn't even bother with #9.
If you're disappointed with this series, try the October Daye series by Seanan McGuire to cleanse your palate. THat said, I can recommend the series thru #8 even though that was the weakest IMO. ...more

I truly loved the heroine in this story, but from top to bottom, it was all about sex, with Merry and her adventures as the backdrop. Seems a little backward. I won't be continuing with Merry.
