While this was a good book, for most of it it felt like a completely different series than book one. Other than two of the characters having the same names nothing really carried over. Even the personalities of Gaia and Leon were unrecognizable for the first 3/4 of the book. Even with that, as I said above, this was still a good read.

I personally and politically disagreed with a lot of the things this book advocated. So, while I like Birthmarked, I'm done with this series, partially because I didn't like how different Leon was. I was rooting for Will the whole time but it was always Peter this, Leon that. Yuck. And the bad guys were advocating no sex before marriage, have lots of kids, provide a stable environment for your children to grow up in. How is that "backwards?" Didnt love it. Gaia was annoying this book - she took stands but her reasoning was a bit odd each time, and this made for a difficult read. The love square was ridiculous and I must admit I was a little disappointed in this book.

So, I just reread Birthmarked, as I wanted to finish this series, however, after finishing it, and looking at the review of the other 2 books in the trilogy, it seems like it might not be a good use of my reading time.
