The one and only time I will ever put a gif in a review.

Edited on 5/7/12, because I apparently have more to say ...

Hit List was the end of Anita Blake for me, after reading this series for the better part of a decade, so check out my review of it to see why I'm not reading Kiss the Dead. I grew attached to the characters and the story and was thoroughly invested with these books until it just got to the point that I couldn't read them without wanting to stab myself in the eye or tear my hair

My husband and I call this series the train wreck we cannot look away from! (It's the only one like that we both read...) We loved the first few books, but the later ones... well, I think her speed in writing them has made the story suffer somewhat. Although this book had more police and less sex, it still had quite a bit of sex and some very disastrous relationship aspects. (view spoiler) ...more

L. K Hamilton is a great writer. I love her style and how easily you fall for her characters. Jean Claude was one of my very fav vampires and the early books about animating zombies, etc were genius. If you add up all the pages that didn't involve Anita talking about or having sex, there are maybe 2 ...more

What I don't understand is why readers keep complaining about how these books are heading. I mean seriously if you don't like the direction they are going in then STOP reading them and giving them bad reviews. I personally love this series and love where it seems to be going. I love all Anita's men, love the relationships, love the characters, love the sex. Although this book was not one of my favorites because it felt a little to short to me I still loved it. I just can't get enough, keep them ...more

No, I am just not pleased. I do give Ms. Hamilton the credit she deserves by still reading what come out for this series due to the first five books.
For this book it did focus more on the mystery than the metaphysical sex. Even though there was still a lot of that. I'm not comfortable with it, but I have a different outlook on it than a numerous amount of people do. So hey, to each his own, right?
