Before the series went to hell in a handbasket. It had an excellent plot about a necromancer named Anita Blake. She is bad-ass, celibate, and has a no nonsense personality. It seems that Jean-Claude has more troubles, and has sought out Anita to root out the problem. Thank the gods no metaphysics have came into play yet.
