We learn More about edward than any other book, and the start of the book is Great. You meet Ted forrester (aka edward), fiance. and her two kids. you also get to know edward mor in this book.
But that ids pretty much the only this about this book that was good.i was really disapointed with this one. i love anita blake series. (view spoiler)

I would classify the Anita Blake books as Erotic Horror. There are Vampires, Werewolves 🐺 and other were animals (both good and bad), as well as legal Zombie raising for the purpose of asking questions of the dead (wills, criminal witnesses, etc). They start out fairly straightforward Zombie raising (Anita's job) and then her life starts to get complicated as she becomes more involved with the "Monsters" on a personal level. Anita continues to 'kick ass'killing a number of people/monsters, blood and gore abound sometimes I find the level of violence and no of deaths difficult this book also includes child abuse again too much for me
Overall enjoy concepts of morality dilemas. If you enjoyed previous books you will probably enjoy this

I enjoyed the fact that Obsidian Butterfly let the reader learn more about Edward. A refreshing new side to the Anita Blake series.
