This series is amazing! Many times I reread books, because I love them so much. Or I want to revisit a world they created. Or I want to read something I know I will love. I tend to read too quickly. so I usually miss out on stuff. I have reread this series at least 3 times that I can think of. Once in the last year, since I moved to Canada. Since 4 out of the six books in this series are in my storage locker in Seattle, I had to buy them again. I don't care. I like having them around.

I love both the Kushiel trilogies. Well-formed characters, fully-realized alternate Europe, with an intriguing guiding social concept - "Love as thou wilt." Then imagine lush, dense, often romantic and sexy plots that are not based on jealousy or infidelity (lots of all kinds of sex, however)... they focus a LOT of family, social, and political interactions. Never dull, many interesting characters introduced and returned much later, just like life. Fabulous reads, all six of them.

So somehow, this book missed my last Terre D'Ange re-read in 2013, so I really didn't remember anything about this book, which made it a very special, if bittersweet experience.
