Wow. Seriously, wow. This series just gets better and better.

I love the complexity of the characters, and the way they continue to develop in each book. I love that Harrison is taking a character that I seriously dislike, and making him into someone I have respect for. Actually, make that two characters, though one of the two firmly won me over in Pale Demon.

I love this series, absolutely love it!

Rachel, poor Rachel. The girl just never seems to catch a break. There's always someone after her and they are always a bigger and better baddy than the time before. It does make you wonder how long her luck can last - if you can call it that!

Nice additions in this book, I like the direction it's going in now. Book 10 and I'm finding myself becoming attracted to Trent. If you'd told me that early on I would have laughed at you! I like the way his relations ...more

I think this series has really improved as it has aged. If you haven't read any of it, by all means do.
That said, there are a few points that really bothered me with this book though, and they are spoilerish so stop if you didn't read it yet. Rachel say she can't love Pierce because he is too quick to use black magic, BUT Trent seems to be lookin' fine to her after he has Jonathan, who RAISED him, turned into a dog, chased and kenneled? After he had HER chased in the last book while Pierce held ...more

After reading Pale Demon and loving every minute of it, I could not wait to get my hands on A Perfect Blood. The wait seemed like forever and when it finally got here, I couldn't help but think that I was being let down while reading it.

A Perfect Blood has a totally different mood than its predecessors and I think that's what sets it apart from all of the others; in a bad way. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed the book, as far as getting to read about all of my favorite characters goes; but as After reading Pale Demon and loving every minute of it, I could not wait to get my hands on A Perfect Blood. The wait seemed like forever and when it finally got here, I couldn't help but think that I was being let down while reading it.

A Perfect Blood has a totally different mood than its predecessors and I think that's what sets it apart from all of the others; in a bad way. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed the book, as far as getting to read about all of my favorite characters goes; but as far as plot and excitement, well all I can say is that it was very lacking in both. Well, at least for the first half of the book.. possibly three quarters.

In A Perfect Blood, Rachel starts off, actually in the majority of this book, without her powers because she can't quite accept the fact that she is a demon that can spell curses. I think this is a part of Rachel that we all know and are used to, but in A Perfect Blood, Harrison takes it overboard. There is only so much angst and self hatred one can stand to read in a story, and I am getting to the point where the series just isn't doing it for me anymore. I hate to say this but she is starting to remind me of Bella from Twilight (can we say ick).

Another thing that bothered me about the ongoing story is the constant attraction/flirtation between Trent and Rachel that never goes anywhere. This has been an ongoing thing for a few books now and it's getting old. Don't get me wrong, I am all about developing relationships, even development that spans a few books, but it has to go somewhere; and the fact that its not is becoming tedious and stale to read. This bothered me greatly because Trent is probably my favorite character in the series.

Al is probably my other favorite of the series, and without him (at least for the first two thirds of this book) it tends to get boring. A relationship, as far fetched as it may seem, between him and Rachel would do wonders for the series; but it seems that excitement isn't a remote possibility in the near future.

On a good note, Jenks was (as usual) just as entertaining and adorable as I anticipated. As a matter of fact, the interaction between him and Belle was absolutely heartwarming and "right". I was heartbroken when Jenks suffered his great loss and was hoping that Harrison would write in a way for him to move on and be happy. Now if she could only do that for Rachel so the rest of the story could get back to its previous glory.

I am a bit on the fence when it comes to how I feel about Ivy's progression. On one hand I feel that her and Rachel could have made a great couple, though I understand the ramifications that would have brought Harrison in writing as such. I do believe she is on somewhat of a good track, but in A Perfect Blood something just seemed to be missing with her.

Overall I enjoyed the book, in spite of the many things that bothered me. After all, I am fully invested in all of its characters at this point. I am anxiously waiting for the next installment, and at the same time I really hope that Harrison pulls some magic out of her virtual pen and gives us (and Rachel) a more fulfilling story ...more

I love the Hollows series and Rachel's bumbling adventures are always a lot of fun. I love the characters in the series and I feel Rachel is growing into herself. I enjoyed Ivy and Jenks as I always do. They storyline was good. I have always enjoyed reading about Trent and felt there was chemistry between him and Rachel that needed to be explored and I love where and how they are heading in this book. There wasn'y much of Al in the book but whatever there was I loved it.

Yet another amazing book my Mrs. Harrison. I just can't get enough of these characters. Jinks is hilarious and I LOVED seeing the softer side of Trent. LOVE THAT ELF!!! I also like the new bodyguard Rachel has and hope to see more of him soon. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars from me is I am STILL waiting for some Rachel/Trent action. Kisten was my man and he will always be in our hearts but the girl needs to move on and Trent would be perfect!!! ...more
