Restoration of Faith

This one has a Pre-Murphy setting. Although, Harry does meet her in the story but it’s for the first time. As a PI, he’s on a case of a kidnapped child. Of course, things always go wrong in Dresdenverse. The child’s parents who hired him to look for her end up claiming he was the kidnapper. There’s also a troll that needs outwitting. And a touching conversation between the kid and Harry. All, in all, a typical Harry jaunt.

*squealing in fangirlish glee!*
I was so glad to find this. I love the series, but was always so disappointed to miss out on the short stories and novellas. Like in the short "It's my Birthday Too." I love the fact that you see more creature features in the shorts.
The very last story was a spoiler for me because I didn't know that I needed to read past the 11th book. So I'm automatically off to reading book 11.
But where in the Hell's Bells can I read about the Fungus demons?

A Restoration of Faith - 3/5. Having the explanation behind this gives me a lot of hope, as an aspiring author. If this is how Harry and the entire series began, then Butcher has come a long way, and it has been an adventure to be along for the ride. We all have to start somewhere. Intro of Murphy too.

Vignette - 3/5. Short, sweet, and to the point. A great glimpse of Harry and Bob together.

First - this is a collection of Harry Dresden short stories, most (but not all) of them published in various other collections. Second - make sure you have read Changes before you read this (I'm sure you have, but bears mentioning), there is a spoiler story. With that out of the way - what a GREAT anthology (and I'd read all the published stories already) for the Dresden fan and any paranormal reader. =) ...more
