You never blame Mosquito Brain for what happened; instead you blame your husband. How dare he fall in love with you when their families didn’t agree?? It’s his fault his enemy attacked her family!

Then when your husband finds out that you’re alive, you’re shocked to learn that you crippled him emotionally and he even had to give up his job because of all his suffering. When he asks you why you didn’t ask for help over the years, your answer is “I don’t know”. It never occurred to you that your husband might have a clue how to fight his own enemy and that he could have been a great asset. You just figured that the best way to find the poison is to ask Mosquito Brain to hunt down your husband's enemy and you keep trusting her to deliver, even though she fails time and time again. Smart woman that you are, you keep doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. Great work, genius!

Can you tell why I’m having problems with this book? I so wish another woman would sweep the hero off his feet and leave the heroine in the lurch. How dare she leave a man stewing for 1000 years and then claim she loves him? Give me a break!! I can understand that her first responsibility was to her people but no way should she have waited that long to contact poor Kougar.

At the end, she agreed she did the wrong thing but it was implied he was at fault too because “he didn’t open up to her.” And my question is… if she didn’t like how her marriage was going, why didn’t she say something? She wasn’t a little girl, she could have spoken up! Him not telling you about his past is not even in the same league as you faking your own death, you freaking moron.

The next book seems to be a rehashing of book 1 so I may wait a while before listening. ...more

This series keeps getting better and better. I absolutely loved this book and the new additions to the series. I really felt for Kougar and I loved hearing his story.

Although the previous books in this series rated 4 1/2*s, this book only rated 4*s. I just didn't like Ariana very much, because she kept whining about how her marriage to Kougar was all about great sex, but that they hadn't really committed to each other. I just didn't feel the love between them. I liked Kougar, though, and thought he deserved better.

I'm looking forward to Hawke's story! ...more
