As always, Richelle Mead has written a book that I couldn't put down. This series has been especially fun to read because Sidney, the main character, has gradually transformed from taking orders as usual to questioning everything she has ever been taught while finding love with an equally complicated and compelling character. I find myself wondering how in the world she is able to come up with so many plot twists and turns and weave them into every book she writes. Must take notes on this. She i ...more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I know it's dangerous, but I started this one with high expectations. I was disappointed. Not because it wasn't good -which it totally was- it just lacked that passion and oomph Mead usually has in all her novels.

I thought everything to be just a little too predictable and pretty much had the plot down halfway through the novel.

I mean what the hell Marcus, I thought he was gonna be some total badass character that changed Sydneys world (which I guess he did in some aspects but not how I meant) I know it's dangerous, but I started this one with high expectations. I was disappointed. Not because it wasn't good -which it totally was- it just lacked that passion and oomph Mead usually has in all her novels.

I just know he's attractive as hell, and likes a good book. Bit of a smarty too I suppose. But who was he? How did he really get to where he is how did he make all these discoveries??? I just assumed Sydney would've went through that in detail if nothing else.

Now, Adrian. Good ol' adrian. The love I have for him, fictional he may be, is real. I think. But in The Indigo Spell? All he did was do some awesome art (would totally love for someone to create his little skeleton on a motorbike image. or was it a pirate?) and tell Sydney how into her he was. And that's great. We all love Adrian for his committment and steadfast passion but C O M E O N. have some depth show a little assertiveness and do something for yourself, completely by yourself.

At first I wondered why Marcus was on the cover I mean he didn't *do* anything just gave her more info which like, anyone could've done. maybe. but i guess the whole indigo tattoo thing. but still, why.

And where was Jill in this book??????? I mean h e l l o they're all there to protect her, let's pay more attention to the awesome jill who's sacrificing her bloody life for lissa instead of angeline and her stupid decisions. i mean seriously, trey over eddie? how does that even happen?!

Beside all that, it was a fun read and there were all these cute little witty inside jokes with sydney and jet -woops I mean adrian. harhar. see what i did there?

But yeah, I hope to see a lot more character progression in the next novel as well as this new dhampir who does seem a bit boring but will hopefully do something awesome in the next instalment, same goes with sydneys baby sis.

Definitely looking forward to what Richelle Mead comes up with next!! ...more
