Succubus on Top (Georgina Kincaid, #2) in SOS: Serious Overload of Series

This is one of those ratings where I'm having an internal argument. Part of me wants to lower it to 3 stars. Then when I try to clarify exactly why I should lower it, I have no valid reason for doing so. I think part of my problem with this book is that I read the first book in the series almost three years ago. So I had trouble remembering all the characters and the personal relationship between each. Most of it had fallen back into place by the end of the book and I will NOT be waiting so long This is one of those ratings where I'm having an internal argument. Georgina Kincaid is a succubus, which mean anytime she is intimate with someone she drains part of their life force. It could be days, weeks, months there's really no way of knowing. She also depends on that same mortal life force to live, without it she slowly loses energy until she would eventually die. She has accepted this need as a fact of life and had developed as normal of a life a Succubus could have in a mortal world.

Then comes Seth. A cute, smart, adorably, dorky, human who happens to spend his days at the book store where Georgina works. At the end of the first book Seth finds out she's a succubus. Now they are tying to have a "normal" relationship....minus any sexual activity. Seth has accepted what Georgina needs to continue living and that it can't be with him. Can they maintain their relationship in spite of this. Can Georgina be open and honest with Seth in the way that "normal" relationships require? The odds are against them but maybe, just maybe, true love will prevail.

Not only is Georgina struggling with her personal life, but an Incubus she has known and worked with for centuries is back in her life and needing her help. He is trying to take down the women leading a right wing, I won't say hate group, il be PC and just call them close minded. The incubus has never had anyone resist his advances before, so when this woman seems oblivious to his advances he calls on his old friend Georgina to help him do recon. Can they work together to bring this awful woman down or will she be the first to resist both the Incubus and Georgina,

Not that this isn't enough for one poor little Succubus to deal with, someone is hooking her mortal friends on a drug that's "outta this world". Where is it coming from, and who is the mysterious man that's hanging around in the background at the parties that's leaving her friends both hungover and suicidal. Thank goodness our favorite Succubus needs distracting from all the sexual frustration her "normal" relationship is leaving her with. Can Georgina find and eliminate the source before any of her friends are too far gone to bring back? How could she not being besties with both an Angel and a Demon.

This book made me laugh out loud and had me rooting for Georgina and Seth throughout. Although their situation is unrealistic, the issues they face are a different version of the ones all couples face. Most people are bored with the norm, but what happens when normal is the one thing you wish for? ...more
