Nice cover. Interesting vampire lore.
Now this was a different kind of vampire book. Different in a good way. When Darkness Hungers combines vampire lore with magic, witchcraft, and voodoo for a compelling read. J.K. Beck builds an impressive world full of all sorts of paranormal creatures: vampires, weres, and daemons.

3.5*s I like to read paranormal romances for, well, the romance. But the first half of this book was taken up with lots of backstory and flashbacks and very little interaction between the hero and heroine. And then, as soon as they did get together, there wasn't much to the development of their relationship. This was almost a DNF for me, until I realized how close I was to the end and figured I should just go ahead and finish it. After hanging in there until the end, the climax seemed a bit rush
