Magic Dreams by Ilona Andrews - 5 stars. I absolutely loved it! I love Ilona Andrews, but I wasn't completely sure how I would like a Dali/Jim story since I adore Kate/Curran. But this was SO good. I'd totally want to read a full Dali/Jim novel now.

Ice Shards by Yasmine Galenorn - 4 stars. I really enjoyed this story. I mostly read it because it had the Finnish element to it, and I love Finland. This was different than something I would normally read. Felt very fantasy-ish. I hadn't read the oth ...more

Okay, I'll admit that I only read Magic Dreams. That's because I haven't read any of the other authors, and I am tremendously neurotic and OCD about reading series: I must start at the beginning. And because the other ones are all listed as mid-series (Sisters of the Moon 9.5, Stormwalker 3.5, Anna Strong 6.5), I just couldn't do it. I really enjoyed 3 out of the 4 stories in this anthology, so overall this was a 4 star read for me.

My favorite story of the bunch was "Magic Dreams." Dali wasn't my favorite character when she first appeared, but she quickly grew on me. This story really cemented her status as an "Ilona Andrews heroine."

I also enjoyed "Double Hexed." I enjoyed it so much that I went and picked up the entire series. "Blood Debt" was also good and I picked up the first book of that one. I never felt lost in eithe ...more

#151 I only read "Ice Shards" by Yasmine Galenorn. I liked it a lot. It helped me understand where Iris's point of view comes from. Although why she waited 600 years to take care of what she should have taken care of a lot sooner. I understand she was young when it happened but the shadow was killing people all those years she waited to confront him. Grr! ...more

Dali was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed the new-to-me mythology aspects. Worth the read even if you're not into the Kate Daniels series.

Yasmine Galenorn - ★★★

Again, a bit hard to get through. I just dont like her style. Quite liked Iris' story though.
