The Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville, North Carolina. One can see why these mountains got their name.

★★★★½ (This is a review of the audiobook.) Khristine Hvam continues the narration of Amanda Stevens’s eerie mystery series. She does an excellent job reading this in first person POV as Amelia Gray, a cemetery restorer. Her Southern accent is perfection, as well as her cadence, tone, inflection, enunciation, and her ability to different voices. There is a reason Ms. Hvam was on my Top Ten Au ...more

I really enjoyed the writing it was definitely creepy. Loved when Amelia researched and mentioned differences in meanings of gravestone markings and other things about graveyards. It was also great to find out more of Amelia's past and the circumstances of her birth. There was alot of action and things to figure out that kept my interest. I can't wait to continue on with the series.

First of all, I LOVED the first book in this series. LOVED IT!
Wish I could say the same for this book, but I just can't. It started out fantastic, I really like Amelia and I am so intrigued by her ghosts.
However, this story started to fall flat for me when Amelia began to sense the 'Evil' lurking in Asher Falls. So many times it was sort of described but not really. Is is a wolf, a beast, a demon? Is it tangible or spirit? I have no frigging clue, it just chased her ass every chance it got and ...more

Wow! So, this book answer the of the questions from The Restorer. Amelia's parentage is answered. This focuses much less on cemetery restoration and more on this creepy, small town. No one likes to talk. There is also a secondary story-line with Ivy. I'm not sure if I would have nixed that or given her more depth. I did like this one a bit better then the first book.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as The Restorer. It was an amazing story in that it gave Amelia's history, but I felt it dragged on.
